I am a deli manager and proud of it. This is not the career plan I dreamed of but it is a great job only a few block from my home. It has been a whole new learning experience in working with different people, great people who work every hard at their jobs. I was out of work had been laid off from the Chamber and had been looking for months for a good job in my area. John was out of work. We were beyond broke. Had just one month of health insurance left. When this opportunity came around, I was going to co manager with my friend Anjie but then she had another job offer that would work bet.ter with her kids schedule. I trained in Salt Lake for several months. I knew the first time I met Marsh Meier that I would be very happy here. He is an amazing man. It is hard work much different from sitting at a computer each day. While working in SLC I would leave by 5:30 am and get home about 5pm. Then the store open in Midway on Dec 1. Currently I have a staff of 12 amazing women. The first year has had it stresses and many long work weeks. This is the first summer and major learning, growing experience. After each holiday weekend…it gets a little clear what to expect next year. I have not had two days off in a row…I have only had two Saturdays off this entire summer. I am scared to death of what will happen during Swiss Days & Labor Day weekend but also looking forward to the experience and having the highest sales over another department. There is hours of scheduling…mama drama…the meathead Floyd…6am every morning…orders…lists…labels…food prep…sandwiches…the bread order…homemade salads….chicken enchiladas….meatloaf….Asian Day…Holly…Kelly…Liz..Timpi…Beth…Katelyn…Kim…Tess & her laughter…Bryce…Tyler…Jesse…Cathleen… Shelbie…Taylor…Richard…soup…sushi…pizzas…augratin potatoes…boars head meat…fryin chicken….is it three oclock yet??
This is unlike any other store deli everything is homemade…I actually cook and I worry so so much about if people are going to like it.
